A Tribute to Crispy

T oday is a very sad day for our family. Our pet bird Crispy past away. He had been a part of our family for quite some time. My father-in-law had given him to us after finding him in the street on his way home one day. It was clear that he had belonged to someone else because of his friendly nature.

We posted "Lost Bird" signs and asked around the neighborhood, but no one came forward to claim him. I have to admit I was relieved because it didn't take very long for us to get attached to him, especially me. We bonded instantaneously.

In his honor, I just wanted to share a few pictures of Crispy, and some fond memories I have of him. He was more than just a pet. He became an important part of our family.

Crispy had a funny way of chirping every time I sneezed. It was almost as if he was telling me "God Bless You", and that always brought a smile to my face, especially when there was no one else home to acknowledge my sneeze.

He was also a very cheerful bird, regardless of the weather. There were many cloudy days where his singing brought sunshine into our home.

Crispy loved to be scratched right below the neckline, and he especially liked my hair. That's where he usually resided when I would clean out his cage.

We buried Crispy today in a special place in our garden. I will miss him very much, but he left many fond memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. For that I will be forever grateful.

Thank you for stopping by.

Oh Ana,

I'm so sorry for your loss. I truly understand how it feels to lose a family pet( dog, bird, or even a hamster). I'm glad you had many fond memories of Crispy - those are very important! Crispy flew into your life for a reason, he knew he would have a wonderful family to love him! He was right! Take care.

Oh Ana, I am so very sorry you lost your precious little Crispy... what a wonderful life he must have had with you and your family! I wish I could say something to make you feel better... only time takes the pain away a little bit... you know how I feel about All God's Creatures... take comfort that today was a special day for All God's Creatures, as it is Feast Day for St. Francis, Patron Saint of Animals...I do believe they all go to Heaven... Crispy will be watched over there too... love to you, Julie Marie

In case anyone else is curious, here is the story behind Crispy's name...

His complete name was Crispy Cream. Yes like the doughnuts, but spelled differently. We have assigned my daughter the pet naming duty and for some reason she likes naming our pet some sort of pastery or baked good. Don't know if you remember, but our Chihuahua's name is Cookie. Well anyway, when we first found Crispy he was still very young and he was all white, belive it or not...with time he turned blue, and my daughter said he looked like white cream filling and there you have it. Thank you all so much for your sweet comments. Wishing everyone a wonderful Monday.

♥Ana
