Look How Pretty...But What Are They?

Hey everyone, look what I found in a recent trip to the thrift store.

Aren't they pretty?

My faves are the ones with the PINK beads.

When I saw them at the thrift store I thought they were so pretty that I just had to have them.

I think they will look pretty displayed in a little vase or tiny little creamer. I'm still looking for the perfect vessel to put them in.

But what are they? Does anyone know? Can anyone tell me? If anyone out there knows what they are, could you, would you please let me know?...I'm just so curious and can't wait to find out.

Blessings and a wonderful new week to all.

Hugs and Kisses,

Hi Ana,

Many thanks for visiting me today, was lovely to hear from you.
I love the new pretty things you got at the thrift store. I was wondering, are they a type of bobbin to wind wool on? My Mother used to spin wool and had wooden bobbins to keep the wool from tangling. Someone else might know what they may be.
Have a happy week

Hugs
Carolyn

Oh Anna...
I am not sure what they are either, but they sure are beautiful. Displayed in a vase they will look so elegant.

I'll have to keep watching this post to see if another blogger knows what they are. They are definitely eye candy gorgeous though.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful Monday. Please stop by and say hi. I so love the company.

Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

hi ana,
I think those are bobbins as they are used for production of lace. This is a very old arts and crafts and is now almost no longer used. But surely you know of Brussels lace, which is actually the most popular?

Very pretty Ana, I have seen some of those, or pretty much the same, in native mapuche women in the south of Chile, they enrollan lanas to help separete the colors to make their beautiful wooden rugs, pero las hacen en telares grandes.

They are lovely, I also think they are some kind of bobbins they used to use in the old days...

These are lace bobbins for making lace. These are not old, but beautifully made, looks like they are from San Francisco market. A bobbin lace maker would have many, many bobbins hanging form her lace making pillow to create a pretty piece of lace. This is truly a lost artform. Sea Witch

Hi Ana..I believe they are net/lace making spindles. MY grandmother used something very much like these and her shuttles were very beautiful as well. She made her lace on a pillow and she could just fly over the patterns..How well I remember her making lace and how I wish I could remember what she taught me.

Well it sounds like they must be lace spindles??
Well whatever they are they are pretty!Happy Monday!

Hi, Ana, I had no idea what they were either. I was going to guess something to do with sewing or knitting as they look like they hold thread. I guess they are lace spindles according to what the others are saying. I think they are so pretty and would look lovely displayed in a decorative or cut glass bowl. I hope you are having a wonderful Monday, sweet friend. Much love to you! Vicki

I'm just as perplexed as you! But from what I'm reading by others comments, surely it has something to do with being bobbins for lacing. Makes sense to me but then again it doesn't have to make sense to want them, they are so cute.
Hugs and glitter, Patti

Ana I love your tatting bobbins, my Ita (abuelita) used to make the most beautiful laces when I was small, she always tried to teach me, but I was young, I had better things to do...how I regret that now, I started collecting things that remind me of her in the last few years...when I miss her the most I look at and touch these things and I feel her near, even the things that she didn't personally touch are special because they were things she would have loved, I started collecting these too, I think I have 2 so far lol I will have to show you a picture soon, if you ever come across more..please let me know, the only place I found them is Ebay.
