Bookcase Makeover

Hi Everyone!

I'm finally ready to show you one of the many projects I've been working on. It's the bookcase I was painting. This bookcase was given to me by my neighbor and dear friend Gloria. She was a woman so full of spunk and energy who was constantly cleaning and organizing her house and basement...One of the most organized and clean basements I have ever seen, by the way.

Gloria knew how much I loved old tattered things so she always thought of me when she'd clean out her basement. She never understood my fascination for old junk... she was just happy to get rid of it...Good thing for me :-)

After almost two years, I finally decided it was time for its makeover.

I can't remember where I got this applique from, but I thought it would be perfect to accent my bookcase.

After some cleaning, sanding and several coats of paint, here it is. It's taking forever to dry...not sure why...maybe the rainy weather? I'll have to wait until it's completely dry to start putting stuff in it. I'll share pics as soon as it happens :-)

I wish my dear friend Gloria could have seen her bookcase all dressed up. I miss her.

**********

Thank you for stopping by today.

Wishing you all a very creative and blessed day.

Hugs and Kisses,

How lovely that something came to you as a throwaway and you gave its beauty back! Will be so lovely when you accessorize it. I have to unfinished bookshelves that my husband had made for our tv room. I've never painted them. I am thinking dark brown on the outside and red for the backsides -- what do you think? I'm not good at this painting stuff. Still thinking! Hope you are having a fantastic day. :) Tammy

It looks beautiful. It is so funny how just one little thing can make a big difference. It would have look beautiful just painted white, but you added that decor and it made a world of difference. Great job.

Hi Ana,

What a lovely job you have done of the book shelf.
That is great to be able to use something, that your neighbour no longer had a use for.

You gave it just the right touch Ana. I'm sure Gloia would love it and is glad you get such joy from her old things.

Rain, rain, go away! I know we need it but I've had enough for a while. We had another thunderstorm this afternoon and it poured!
Hugs,
Dawn
