Home Project: Petite Update 3

Hi Everyone!

Boy, it seems like I haven't blogged in forever. I've missed you all terribly. Today, hubby and I are taking a little break from what we've been up to for the past week, so I thought I'd get on the computer and let you know what we've been doing...Warning, it's only a petite teaser ;-)
Yes, we've been putting down our new floors, Yay! It has been a bit challenging, but for two people who have never laid a floor down before, well, I must say it's going rather smoothly....A bit slow, but smoothly. We've been working non stop, prepping the rooms, moving furniture and laying the floors...Whew! It's a lot of hard work. We're soooooo tired, achy and sore, but the floors are turning our fantabulous. I cannot wait to show you guys more.
This is after a whole day of work. Remember I said.... Slowly but Smoothly :-)
Thank you so much for stopping by today.
I promise that I'll come over to visit as soon as I can my dear friends.
I miss you all!
Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of the week.

Feeling Nostalgic

I was feeling a bit nostalgic today...

I hope you don't mind me sharing a little treasured item from my childhood with you.

This cute little bathing suit was mine when I was only 3 years old...Yikes, I think it might be considered vintage now! Hee, hee, hee! Anyway, like all the items from my past that I've kept, I hold on to it because it's a little piece of my childhood that I can actually touch and feel. I had such a wonderful childhood and going back and revisiting those memories always bring joy to me and fill my heart with love....

Ahhh! Such sweet memories.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Blessings.

Chicken Wire In My Head And My Daughter The Artist

Lately I've been obsessed with chicken wire...as you might have already noticed my blog's new background...

This is something I worked on yesterday.

Easiest thing to make....I just got an old frame I had laying around and stapled some chicken wire to the back.

Oh but it doesn't stop here...There is more...But you'll have to come back again to see what else I've been working on. :-)

**********

But before you go, I would like to share with you one more thing....

Yesterday evening we attended an art exhibit. It was to celebrate the many talented young artists from our daughter's school district....

And our daughter's tribute to Marilyn was one of the pieces selected to be displayed...We are so proud of her. I'm not sure is you can tell, but this piece was made entirely out of little pieces of pages she cut out of magazines. Anyway, as a proud mama I just had to share this with you. :-)

**********

Thank you for stopping by for a visit today.

Remember to come back and see what else I'm working on.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Blessings.

Home Project: Petite Update Part 2

Hi Everyone!

I'm so glad you dropped by for a visit today because I have something exciting to share with you. Yes! It's another petite update on our current home project.

I know it's been a while since I first shared this with you but, do you remember our downstairs room flooding and the carpet and wall being ruined? And do you remember me convincing my hubby to put in a patio door?

Well, it has gone from this.....

To this....

To this!

As you can see, there is still sooooo much to do and it's progress has been very, very slow. Slowly but surely I'd say. But, I know that in the end it will be all totally worth it.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you that on Sunday we finally got our flooring, Yay!....If you are wondering why so many boxes for one room.... Well, it's because we have decided to redo the whole downstairs. Yay, again!

(In case I haven't mentioned this before, our home is a split level cottage. Downstairs we have two large rooms, one is hubby's and my little love nest and the other is our family/TV room. Upstairs is the rest of out cute little cottage....Just thought you'd like to know☺)

Please keep checking back for more updates. Can't wait to have more to share.

Thank you again for stopping by and I do hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Happy Monday to everyone.

Blessings.

Flower Pot Makeover

Some very dear friends of ours surprised me with this beautiful Orchid plant for my birthday.

It came in an ordinary plastic container, so my first task was to find it a pot worthy of its beauty.

But the only one I had on hand that was the perfect size for it was this plain old terra cotta pot.

Not very exciting right? Well, the other day as I was looking around Blogland I came across Michelle's Sweet Something Designs blog who had a tutorial (click here) on this cool "Chippy Paint Finish" technique.

First, I covered the pot with spackle to give it some texture.

Once the spackle was dry, I gave it a coat of brown acrylic paint.

And the last step was dry brushing the entire pot with a creamy white paint. I left out a crackling step because I didn't have any crackling paint on hand. All that was left was to seal it.

I love how it turned out. Thank you Michelle!

Very shabby and chic don't you think? Now all I need is to learn how to take care of an Orchid. Any tips?

Thank you for stopping by today.

Please come and visit with me again soon.

Have a wonderful day.

Oh, Oh! Today is my Birthday!

Birthdays have always been a big deal to me. So much so, that one year when I was in grade school, I decided that all my school needed to know. After all, the more people that knew, the bigger the celebration, right? So I thought it would be a great idea to go around the entire school declaring, "Oh, Oh! Today is my Birthday!"... Oh, so young and so innocent.

( My sweet Mami and me on my 6th Birthday.)

Anyway, I'm older and wiser now so..."Oh, Oh! Today is my Birthday!" Hee, Hee, Hee!

Thank you everyone for stopping by and for being such a sweet and special part of not just my birthday, but every day.

Oh! But before I go off to my "Birthday Weekend" celebration, I wanted to give a special and loving acknowlegement to my wonderful and sweet Mami. After all she was the one who gave birth to me....In a small town....with no hospital.... Yikes, with no pain medication and only the town's mid wife.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Mami you are my hero. Happy Birthing Day to you. I love you.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Thank you all kindly for stopping by.

Blessings.

Guess What I'm Getting For My Birthday!

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but... ♪I'm a little bit country♪... (Remember that song from The Donny and Marie Show?) Well I am! I'm a country girl at heart. So, what does that have to do with my birthday? Well, guess what I'm getting for my birthday. OK, technically I already have them, but since my hubby got them especially for my birthday I can't open them until tomorrow....Have you guessed already? Let me give you another little hint...

If you guessed a pair of cowboy cowgirl boots...Yes!

Yay! I've been wanted a pair for sooooo long. A few years back I owned three pair, one of which were my wedding boots. Yes, I wore cowgirl boots for my wedding...I ♥ cowgirl boots...What can I say.

You can't tell in this picture, but my hubby wore them too. His were black, plus he wore black Levis jeans and a bolo tie. Can't get any more country than that. :-)

Since I can't show you a picture of my boots until after tomorrow, here's a web picture of what they look like....Aren't they gorgeous? Oooooo, I can't wait to open them !!!! I'm so excited!

So how about you? Are you a little bit country or a little bit rock n roll?

Thank you for stopping by today.

Blessings.

Age Does Not Matter

Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank you all for your sweet comments yesterday... In a nutshell, this is what I got from each and every comment.

Age does not matter. What matters is that my sweet hubby and I love each other very much. So very true....Plus, me being older than him just means I'm the boss of him... as Betsy's (from "She Who Rides Many Ponies") 6 year old grand kids would say. Hee, hee, hee! Just kidding. That was funny though.

Anyway, I said yesterday that I would focus on the celebrating part of my birthday and that I would try to celebrate all week. Well let me share with you how I treated myself yesterday....

A few weeks ago my hubby bought me a pair of Therashoes...those sneakers that claim to tone your legs and bum.

Well, I hadn't had a chance to try them out so I thought I would take them out for a spin.

And how is that celebrating?... Well, my hubby came along for the walk and anytime spent together alone is always a special treat for me. ♥

If you are wondering if these shoes do what they claim, all I can say is...Boy, today I'm feeling it on my legs and bum...Maybe they do work.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Blessings.

Oh ! By the way, for those of you who wanted to know...my birthday is this Friday.... March 5th.

Happy 1st Day of March!

Yay! March is here....or should I say, "Yikes!"?

This particular month happens to be one of my favorite months of the year because it's my Birthday Month and I love having birthdays. However it also happens to be one that I have dreaded it's arrival ever since my sweet hubby and I have been together. "Why?" You ask. The reason is simply this... On that special day on which I turn one year older...Are you ready for this?... I become older than my hubby by 52 of the longest days of the year! Yes, I am 52 days older than my hubby and I hate it! I don't know why I have such a hard time with that. I know, I know...It's silly, but I can't help it! What can I do? I know... I need to stop focusing on that and just focus on the celebrating part...Yeah! I should just celebrate all week. Yeah! Excellent idea! Hmmmm, how should I celebrate today? I'll let you know what I came up with later. In the mean time I'll leave you with these questions...Is there anyone out there older than their hubby? And if so, how do you feel about it?

Hugs and Kisses,
