Thirft Store Find Makeover

Hello and Welcome Everyone!

Today I wanted to share with you a petite makeover I just finished putting together.

I'd been searching high and low for a small lamp that I could use on my kitchen counter... Finally, after a very long search I found this little cutie at my favorite thrift shop, and it was only $2.98!.. It did need some work, but....

Nothing a bit of white spray paint and a little bling, bling couldn't beautify! :-)

Oh, and I also replaced the black cord with the white and added the white candle tube that was missing. Believe it or not these were all parts I already had from some old, broken lamps...I save everything.

And here it is, all dressed up with it's pretty little lamp shade...which by the way I already had too.

And here's a closer look at the bling, bling...I already had this beautiful bobeshe also...A garage sale find a while back...Can you believe I bought 3 or 4 of these for only a $1 each?

I'm not sure if I should distressed it a bit...Maybe sand off some areas or even make it a little more vintagey by adding some brown glaze. Hmmmm...What do you think?

Friends Are Like Angels

Our friends are like angels,
Who brighten our days.
In all kinds of wonderful,
Magical ways.

Their thoughtfulness comes,
As a gift from above.
And we feel we're surrounded,
By warm, caring love.

Like upside-down rainbows,
Their smiles bring the sun.
And they fill ho-hum moments,
With laughter and fun.

Friends are like angels,
Without any wings.
Blessing our lives,
With the most precious things!

~Emily Mathews~

♥Thank you for being such a sweet, kind and caring friend.♥
♥You are a true blessing.♥

Riddle Me This...

What can you make with...

An old kitchen cabinet....(This was my kitchen before the remodel...Can you believe it was green?)

a pillow I made out of some remnant fabric and trim I found at a thrift store and....

a seat cushion?
Well, first you make a beautiful bench out of the cabinet... This is my hubby's handy work.
Second, you take the stuffing out of the pillow and insert the cushion to make a seat cushion for the bench.

It's reversible!
And third you put them all together and voila! I love it!
My hubby made the bench for me as a birthday gift a couple of years ago...just hadn't gotten around to making the seat cushion. It was such and easy project I really don't know why it took me so long...but it's done! Yay! One more thing to check off my list of things to do.

My Jardin

It's been such a gloomy week all week and today it's even been drizzling a bit... Days like these just have a way of making me feel a little blue...As it is, I haven't had much energy or desire to do much of anything and this gloominess is just making it a little more difficult....However, there is one thing that seems to brighten my day no matter how gloomy....

My Garden

Please, won't you join me for a little tour of my petite jardin?

There's my sweet little garden angel tending to all our cute, feathered friend visitors.

This year my Agapanthus is blooming like crazy...Just lovely.

Say hello to Mr. Toad...I know he's enjoying the drizzle :-)

This is a new little area that we've been working on. It's still a work in progress... Did you see my new Hydrangea plants? One was a gift from my dad and the other from my hubby...How sweet is that?

Here's a closer look at the darker of the two Hydrangeas...This is the one my dad got for me.

We also planted some Lavender...per my hubby's request... Didn't know he liked it so much :-)

And this is my side patio.

I know my garden still has a ways to go, but if one day mines is half as beautiful as Ms. Vicki's from Bunny Cottage, Ms. June's from Laughing With Angels or Ms. Julie Marie's from Idyllhours then it will be a dream come true. Thank you sweet and lovely ladies for your friendship and inspiration.

Oh, and I mustn't forget... Below are pictures of my Hydrangea...the one I was waiting to see what color it would be...IT'S PINK!!!! Yay! My favorite color! I ♥ Hydrangeas!

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit today.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Blessings.

Countertop Vignette

After working on my kitchen cabinet the other day (see previous post) I decided that my kitchen counter, this little spot in particular, needed rearranging and redecorating as well, soooo....

Here it is...

Yes, those are blue Hersey's Macadamia Kisses...all the way from Hawaii...My sister Lucy and BIL brought them back for me us from their recent trip. Yummy! I love chocolate covered macadamia nuts.

Cute little index box turned recipe box.

I used one of these cabinet doors that were salvaged from a recent mini demo over at my parents house to make my little chalkboard. I love to reuse, repurpose and recycle.

The knobs are original to the house so I knew there was a hidden gem underneath all those layers of paint.

I knew it...It's beautiful....

And this is what the little index box that I bought at a thrift store looked like before it was given a new life as a recipe box.

And it was only a $1.50...Awesome.

So what do you think?
