My very sweet couisin Irma sent me the cutest most special gift ever.
Tears filled my eyes and I was touched beyond words.
In sweet memory of our sweet little baby girl, Cookie.
I love, love, love her.

Thank you Irma. Love you.

Man Cave

Okay, I know I've been referring to this room as our family/television/movie and tv memorabilia room but if you ask Hubby he'll say it's his Man Cave.
Aside from the black floral decorative cushions and white coffee table (Both of which will hopefully be replaced soon with more appropriate pieces.) pretty much everything in the room screams "I am a Sci-fi Movie Geek and I am king of this room." Hee, hee, hee.
Poor thing, for the longest time he has had to live in a house where every single room was quite feminine with loads of lace, flowery, vintagey, girly, fuffy stuff....It's no wonder he calls this room his sanctuary.
He has been so patient and accepting of my girly decor that it was only fair and about time he got his very own space.
This is the other side of the room. It turned out to be a very difficult room to photograph so I apologize for the bad pics. Although there are a few more projects we still want to work on for this room I guess we can say that the room is pretty much done. Oh, by the way, forgot to mentions that Hubby build all the pipe and wood shelve units. I'm telling you, Hubby is turning out to be quite the handyman. So proud of him.

Thanks for stopping by.

Industrial Chic TV Stand

Hi Everyone!

This is the next project from our family/television/movie and t.v. show memorabilia room that I would like to share with you. It is our industrial chic television stand....All hand crafted by Hubby.

He used left over pieces of wood he had laying around from other projects, pipes he order on-line, some chicken-wire, a couple of hinges, screws to hold everything together (and a few for decorative touches)  and  a couple of door knobs we had left over from our our kitchen remodel. I love it!
Best part is that all the lovely components that we've accumulated for use with the television are nicely tucked away in the cabinet below. The chicken-wire makes it possible to use the components without having to open the door...Cool, right?
And here is Hubby when he was hard at work making the piece...So proud of him.
Next time I'll be sharing the shelving unit framing the tv stand. Can't wait for you to see it.

Until next time.
Wishing you a wonderful new week.

Chicken-wire, old map and a light shade

We have been working on a "new" home project for what seems a long while now. I've been wanting to post about it but it's not completely finished. Well, in hopes of "encouraging" hubby and me to hurry up I decided to show you a bit of what we've already done.

I'll begin with a project I worked on for the space.
Chicken-wire, a light shade (both of which I already had) and 2 sheets of paper with an old map printed on them that Hubby purchased on-line were the supplies I used. All I did was cut the paper and chicken-wire to fit around the shade. The paper wasn't wide enough or long enough to cut all in one piece so two pieces were needed. I then glued the pieces of paper to each other, shape the chicken-wire onto the shade and over the paper and voilà, a new light shade. I didn't even need to glue the map onto the shade because the chicken wire is holding everything nicely together. I like that nothing is permanent, so it makes it easy to change again if needed :-)
This space is our almost finished family/television/movie and t.v. show memorabilia room. We love the old world/industrial look so that is the direction we decided to go in for this room. There are so many projects we have worked on and are still working on for this space...I cannot wait to share with you more...The barn door you see behind the wingback chair was the very first project Hubby worked on for this room...It was my birthday present. If you like to see more click here.

I hope to be able to share more in the next few weeks. Thank you for stopping by and a special thank you to all who left such sweet and kind comments on my last post. Love you all.

Artful Blogging Feature

Hi Everyone!

I am so very excited to share with you a very joyful and humbling moment in my life as a blogger. Back in November of last year I was contacted by the editor of the magazine Artful Blogging asking if I would be interested in submitting some of my blog's photographs and an article to their beautiful magazine. Of course, after picking myself off the floor, I said yes.

It has felt like forever since that initial email but it is finally here. And to be totally honest, up to the point when I first held the magazine with my feature in my hands, I was in total disbelief. It has been an honor and a dream come true.
It is the Fall issue that should be available starting today, August 1st.
It is a wonderful magazine full of beautiful and inspiring photos and articles.
I am thrilled beyond words.
Blogging has been an artistic and personal outlet for me and I have loved every minute. I am thankful for my family's support and encouragement and especially my hubby's. He is the one who encouraged me to start blogging. He believed it would help me deal with a very difficult time and he was right. I am also very thankful for all the wonderful friendships I have had the honor of making through this, your humble blog.

Lots of Hugs and Kisses,
