Quick and Simple Pumpkin Arrangement

H ere's a quick and simple idea for a pumpkin arrangement. I needed something autumny for my mantle and this is what I came up with. Let me know what you think.

I snatched this beautiful red urn one day from my mother-in-law's "To Be Donated" pile. I wasn't sure what I would use it for, but the color was so pretty I just had to have it. I think it will be perfect for this project.

A couple of orange foam pumpkins from JoAnn's....60% off. Woo Hoo!

A $2.50 Target, autumn inspired, wreath and.....

I just carved a piece out from under the top pumpkin so that it would sit over the stem of the bottom one and glued it all together.

Kinda cute huh?

I do hope you liked my pumpkin arrangement and I do hope you enjoyed your visit with me today. Please come back and visit again soon. Until then, have a wonderful day. Blessings.

White Crocheted Chicken

S ome of my most favorite and cherished items that I own and fill my heart with love are those that are handmade by someone close and dear to me. On this beautiful chilly White Wednesday morning, I wanted to share with you one of those items.

She is this pretty, white, crocheted chicken made a long time ago by my abuelita (grandma).

This cutie was a recent gift from my mom. She knows how much items like these mean to me, so she passed her down to me. Thank you Mom!

Although my abuelita passed when I was very young, I still remember her and the times we spent together. I do miss her very, very much. So this little cutie is something I will cherish and hold dear to my heart always because it was so lovingly made by the hands of my sweet and kind abuelita.

There is more to see over at Kathleen's Faded Charm. Please hop on over to her blog and check out what others are sharing on this WHITE WEDNEDSAY!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day.

Ironing Tips Part 2

OK everyone, do you remember a few weeks ago I asked for some ironing tips? And remember I said that I would try any and all tips you gals would send my way? Well I have finally done it. I put into practice all your tips and ideas and I'm here to share the results.

Helen Altman, Weeping Iron, 1992

I must say that the best tip seemed to be a popular one amongst you ladies, which was simply to buy clothes that didn't require ironing. I love it! However, as much as I liked the idea, I still can't get out of ironing because my hubby wears dress shirts for work that have to be ironed. Can't get around that one. Thanks anyway! :-D

Another tip was to iron clothes that are dampened a bit...I used a spray bottle. It actually helps the wrinkles come out easier. I love this tip. Special thanks to Charo, Vicki and Jacque for this tip. Jacque, I know you didn't intended your comment as a tip, but I tried it anyway.

Sherry and Cindy S. had the best tip for making ironing a bit more enjoyable. They recommended I put music on or watch television while ironing. It sure made ironing go by faster. Thank you ladies.

I even got a tip on how to iron embroidered linens. This tip was shared by Carol. She said: "Put a large fluffy terrycloth towel on the ironing board and place your item to be ironed face down (embroidered side down) on the towel and then iron well with steam. This makes the embroidery stand up, or puff, on the front side and gives a lovely dimensional effect to the embroidery work. This technique works well with clothing items also." Great tip Carol, thank you so much.
But I guess, if I had to choose a favorite ironing tip I would have to say it was Phyllis' tip. She suggested I use spray sizing. I had used spray starch before but really didn't like it, but this stuff is different. It helps the wrinkles come out easier plus it leaves the clothes feeling like brand new without them feeling stiff. Another benefit is that it makes the clothes smell good. Thanks Phyllis, awesome tip.
This was so much fun. A great big "thank you" to all you sweet ladies for your fun and helpful tips, lovely comments and wonderful stories about ironing. You sure have made ironing a bit easier and more enjoyable for me. Blessings to all.

I was visiting Karen's blog, My Desert Cottage, the other day and came across one of her posts in which she was sharing her new fabric pumpkin creations....she is so creative! But as if that wasn't enough, she was also sharing with us step by step how to make them. I was so inspired that right away I knew I had to get to work on my very own pumpkins. Yay!

Now, I didn't make them exactly the same as hers. I knew I wanted to add an initial to one of my pumpkins, so I had to come up with a different pattern. I played around with a couple of ideas and ended up with these. What do you think?

Thank you Karen for being such an inspiration to me. If you are interested in learning how to make your very own pumpkins, please click here and it will take you directly to Karen's Pumpkin Tutorial post. Or maybe you might just want to stop by and say Hi.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

♥Reminder: If you are interested in entering my giveaway please leave me a comment on My First Giveaway post, which is the one right before this one. Good luck to all.♥

My First Giveaway!

W hen I first started blogging I thought it would be just another place where I could unleash some of my creativity. I never really expected to find and connect with so many people that shared my passion for all that is romantic, shabby chic, vintage and creative.

I often wondered if there would be anyone out there that would be interested in anything I had to say. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would bond with so many people and develop so many wonderful friendships. I am so blessed to have met what I consider to be some very talented, sweet and kind people.
I remember the first time I realize someone had decided to follow my blog...MY Blog. It was the best feeling ever. Of course, it was only my niece, but it was still very special to me. For our anniversary this year, my husband surprised me with a Christie Repasy original oil painting. I already owned several of her canvas prints, but nothing compared to the thrill of being the proud owner of one of her originals... or so I thought.
To my surprise, my wonderful hubby had forwarded my Anniversary Gift blog post to Ms. Repasy. You can read that post here if you are interested. She became my second follower. I couldn't believe someone I looked up to and admired so much would be interested in my blog. It was a very humbling experience. After that, 98 more to follow, and each one was just as special as the first.
Today I celebrate my 100th follower. WOW! Can you believe it? I wanted to celebrate this wonderful event in a very special way. I have decided to have my very first giveaway. All you have to do to qualify is to leave me a comment on this post no later than midnight, (Pacific Time) October 23, 2009, and you are automatically entered.

Edited 10/15/09:

If you don't have a blog and wish to enter my giveaway, please make sure I get an email address where I can reach you in case you win. Thank you.

So what's the giveaway you ask? Drum roll please.... It's one of Ms. Repasy's canvas prints!

This beautiful print is titled Blush Pink Rose and it is personally signed by her and dated 1997 on the back. The canvas measures 5x7 , but framed it measures about 8x10.

I want to thank each and every one of you for making this such a wonderful blogging experience these past six months.

Good luck to all of you!

Hugs and Kisses.

White Rose

I just had to share with you this beautiful white rose from my sweet neighbor Ed's garden. He grows the most amazing roses I have every seen. He loves his roses and cares for them so lovingly and makes sure that they are always well taken care of.

He grows other colors too, but since today is White Wednesday over at Kathleen's Faded Charm I thought I would share only the white one. Ed loves telling the story of how he got this particular rose at the dollar store and how it has just grown into this beautiful rose bush that gives him the prettiest and sweetest smelling roses. Isn't it beautiful?

Please don't forget to stop by Kathleen's Faded Charm blog to check out what other White enthusiasts are sharing today.

And like always, I am thrill that you came to visit. I do hope you enjoyed your stay. Please come back to visit again soon. Wishing every one of you a Wonderful White Wednesday.

Welcome Visitors

T his weekend we had some special guests come to visit us. As a matter of fact, they will be hanging around our Petite Cottage for a few weeks. Allow me to introduce to you two very cute and special little sisters. These are Agatha and Lucinda.

This little one is Lucinda. Isn't she the sweetest little witch you have ever seen?

She likes scaring people on Halloween with her Wicked Witch mask.

OOOOh scary!

And this little cutie is Agatha. She is the eldest of the two witch sisters.

How cute is that tiny little nose?

Unlike her younger sister she does not like to scare people. She is more into fashion.

Into the Halloween fashion that is. Take a look are her very chic spiderweb leggings.

These two little witches were handcrafted by me. There is something so special about turning pieces of plain fabric into cute little dolls like these. They seem to develop their own little attitudes and personalities. It's like magic to me. I do hope you enjoyed meeting them today.

I also hope you will be back for another visit real soon. Wishing all my wonderful and dear blog friends an awesome Monday and a week filled with sunshine, smiles and tons of creativity.

Remember, there are only 18 more day until Halloween.

Hugs and Kisses,
