Playing with dolls

Today I am playing dress-up and photo-shoot with Jesse Sue, my vintage 1950's dolly.
This summer has been a very warm one and Jesse Sue did not have a single summer outfit to wear so I stitched her up this cute little criss-crossed apron top with matching little underpants.
Ahhh! She is definitely staying much cooler this way.
She is such a cutie patootie, don't you agree? If you'd like to know the story behind how she came to live with me please click here. And if you like to see who else is playing with their dollies today too just run over to my sweet friend Diane's blog, "Lavender Drems" here.

I have always said that laughing makes me feel young...well so does playing with my dolls. It is good to keep the mind, heart and soul young. Now go play.

Hugs and Kisses,

She looks adorable in her little vintage inspired sun suit, Ana! I have one vintage doll left (similar to yours) and I think she might like a change of clothing. Now, to find the doll....

Have a great day, and never let go of your inner child!

What a darling doll - and such a sweet story of how she came to live at your house. She is a very lucky doll. I can hardly believe that is the same dress - it sure did clean up well - and she looks great in it. I love the outfit for this week too - I have that pattern and love to make it. I made sunsuits just like that for our daughters when they were little - such a sweet pattern.

I used to love playing with dolls. Now they are all relegated to a corner of the attic. Maybe I will play again when I have grandchildren.

I have just been and seen how you came to have her and do you know what amazes me? She still has her beautiful eyelashes! She has cleaned up really rather nicely hasn't she and looks so cute in her new dress.
Have a nice week,

Oh Ana...she is adorable, and she reminds me of a few toys (shhhhh! Shouldn't have said that in mixed company! Teehehee) that I had in my youth. What strikes me here is the darling outfit you made her. My momma used to sew all my dolls' clothing AND my own. Looking at your dolly brings back the strongest memories: the smell of the oil my mother used to oil up her Singer. The feeling of the thread between my fingers as I would get into her sewing box. The pinking sheers she'd let me experiment with as I cut newly purchased fabrics from the yardage shop. The sunshine streaming into her sewing room in that old Spanish Cottage in Los Angeles. Ahhhh...thank you for taking me back.

She is so very precious and I love the cute outfit you made for her. It does look cool and sweet for summer. This would have been a type of doll I had growing up in the '50s and '60s....back in the olden days. But playing does make you feel young and happy! I'm so happy you joined in this week! You added so much to the FUN! Sweet hugs, Diane

How pretty is she! Love vintage dolls especially when they don't look creepy. A fun post Ana!
